Coffee Science

The more one radiates out from the French Quarter, the more facets New Orleans presents. Sure the bulk of tourism is right near the Quarter but there's a lot of gems off the beaten path that are worth seeking out. If coffee is high on that gem list, then one of them is Coffee Science.

Situated in a former house on S Broad Ave, Coffee Science is a nifty coffee shop that's more likely to be full of locals then tourists. With it's bright interior, many areas of seating and backyard full of picnic tables, the shop is a perfect place to meet-up with friends or work on some work solo.

As for coffee, they offer a few different roasters including Mojo Coffee Roasters and Congregation. The morning of my most recent visit, I ended up with two infusions from Mojo: an espresso of their Madrugada Blend and a drip coffee of a Ethiopian single origin. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of lime, corn chips, chocolate milk, arugula and abrupt accents of earl grey, proving overall sweet and bright. The filtered coffee also proved tasty, with vibrant notes of strawberry, wheat, milk, caramel, nougat, almond and a little nutmeg in a light bodied brew.

While the trip was a little out my way for my next stop, it was definitely well worth the sojourn. Whether you live in town or you're just visiting, definitely check out Coffee Science.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
