Large coffee shops are not very common in urban areas, yet Lynchburg boasts one of the largest I have seen east of the Mississippi.
When I was last in the area, it was a beautiful day. My troop and I had just finished a brisk walk around town and were seeking a respite. While there is no shortage of coffee ships in town, we found our way to La Vida Coffee + Market, a cafe seemingly pulled from the wild west. Inside, the shop is extremely spacious, with tons of seating, lots of light and a formidable bar.
As for my coffee that day, I had an espresso of The Answer blend from Cat and Cloud Coffee and a single origin Colombia from Methodical. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of milk chocolate, sugar cookie, sweet cream, strawberry and a little spinach, proving sweet and balanced. The drip coffee also made for an excellent infusion, with delicious notes of apple pie, biscuit, cream cheese, walnut and a little honey.
After some pleasant rest and revitalization, I polished off my coffees and headed out all the better for my visit. The next time you are in Lynchburg, definitely make a stop by La Vida Coffee + Market for great coffee.
