Coffee shops by and large have a hard time with baked goods. Sure, there's nothing wrong with croissants and cookies, but surely there is more to nosh on then the same five items? And yes, a pre-made sandwich can be nice, but serve up something that has some soul or vision, and I'll be a regular.
Thus, when I was last in Columbus, I was truly blessed from God Himself to find Fox in the Snow. Outfitted with multiple locations across the city. Fox in the Snow offers great coffee and in-house baked goods that look better than the covers of most food magazines. I found myself on the doorstep of their German Village location one sunny morning, ready to carb up and caffeinate.
The shop is beautifully arrayed, with gorgeous furniture and a swanky style fit for their reputation. True to form, their baked goods were varied and each looked better than the other. As for coffee that day, they were serving up Tandem Coffee Roasters, both the espresso and drip featuring the Fox in the Snow blend. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of cream, blueberry, chocolate, brioche, apple, some black cherry and sweet tea, proving super smooth and delicious. The drip also fared similarly, with reverberating notes of sweet cream, bran, pecan, cherry, apple, collar greens and a bit of mineral water.
After downing my drinks and savoring a glorious cinnamon bun with some intense frosting, I left Fox in the Snow wishing it was closer. Thus, if you are in the area of Columbus or passing through, definitely take a detour to one of their locations for some excellent coffee and baked goods.
