Pennsylvania is dotted with tons of intriguing small towns, almost too many to visit. Fortunately, it seems that the more interesting a town, the more likely a good coffee shop will open up nearby, so it's just a matter of tracking down good coffee.

My most recent foray has upheld this theory, as I was traversing the central part of the state and I found a prospective coffee stop in a charming town called Hollidaysburg. The coffee shop, located in a gorgeous brick building near the railroad, was a local place called Boro Coffee Co. Furnished with various seating areas and a spacious back patio, the cafe had all the trimmings of a great hangout.

As for the coffee, the day of my visit they were serving up Rothrock Coffee. After brief deliberation, I went with an espresso of their house espresso blend (another name was not given) and a single origin El Salvador for drip. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, vanilla, apple with skin, caramel, spinach and black cherry, proving sweet and balanced. The drip also proved excellent, with notes of caramel corn, collard greens, birch beer, black tea, whole milk and chocolate-covered cherry in a medium body.

Despite it being a gorgeous day in Hollidaysburg, unfortunately I had a lot more driving ahead that day so once my beverages were finalized, I had to jet. Nonetheless, the next time I am in the area, I shall stop by Boro Coffee Co. for some great coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
