There’s a few coastal cities that don’t really feel a whole lot like a typical metropolitan area, and one of those is Norfolk, Virginia. Whether it’s all the navy ships, the proximity to Virginia Beach or the fact that I only visit once a year, Norfolk just hits different.

As for the coffee, they served Pinup Coffee Co. out of Virginia Beach. For my espresso I had their Tailwind blend and for the drip I had Slightly Dangerous. The espresso, pulled short/medium with light brown cream, smacked of chocolate chip cookie, lemon, rye, Whole milk and almonds. The drip proved a bit heavy yet tasty, with notes of chocolate, pretzel, malt, apple butter and black tea.
After my stop there, I had a Handsome Biscuit chicken sandwich and headed west to visit some friends. The next time you’re in the area, definitely make a stop at Equinox.
