Trying to get to an off-site coffee shop between business conference sessions is often like a leg of the Amazing Race. Half the time, the targeted cafe is just far enough away that you only have enough time to grab the coffee and get back before you are poignantly missed.
Such was the case when I first became acquainted with Infusion in Tempe. With only a half hour to drive a round-trip of 20 minutes, I was left with just enough time to slurp my drinks, take in the atmosphere and head out. I arrived one cloudy afternoon outside their stand-alone shop to find the place abuzz with activity amidst their many seats, both inside and out. The cafe had a beautiful mix of bohemian eclecticism and the wood of a rustic cabin, complete with a separate area for training and learning to the left of the main bar.
As for my coffee that day, I went with an espresso of Freak Show and a drip of a single origin Brazilian. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cherry, pound cake, lemon, cream and apple juice, proving vibrant and balanced. The drip also made for an excellent infusion, with notes of kiwi, sesame seed, honey, corn, pomegranate tea and malt.
Thank the Lord, I was able to polish off my beverages without rushing and made it back to my conference just in time for my next session. Whether you're looking for coffee on the go or a place to relax with your beverage, head over to Infusion Coffee and Tea Crafters in Tempe.
