The Station on Kings

Great coffee coupled with an excellent bakery, garden supplies and home goods is a winning combination that surprisingly few places have attempted, never mind mastered. One of the places doing a great job with said facets is located on the coast of Delaware, in a gorgeous establishment called The Station on Kings.

Situated in a wood-planked barn with a greenhouse and patio to the left, The Station offers a large footprint relative to its surroundings, with a courtyard of plants and an adjoining building for the nursery. Inside, the cafe has a counter while the bakery seems to hold another, with home and garden good interspersed freely throughout.

As for coffee, they serve Counter Culture. The day of my visit, I ordered an espresso of Hologram and a drip infusion of Big Trouble. The espresso, pulled to a medium volume with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, sea salt, caramel, clementine and romaine, proving sweet and full. The drip coffee also made for a delicious infusion, with notes of pear, rye bread, caraway seed and light cream.

After spending some time sipping and browsing, I had to bid adieu to this lovely oasis to get back on the road. If you happen to be in Lewes or passing by, definitely stop by The Station on Kings.
