It is always fun visiting friends, especially when they live in an area that always seems to have a new coffee shop. On my most recent foray to the Williamsburg area, I was fortunate to meet up with a good chum at a cafe new to me: Grounded Coffee in Newport News. 

Located in a large office building, Grounded Coffee has plenty of natural light pouring through its copious front windows. Inside, the cafe has a variety of seating in a vaulted cafe with a beautiful aesthetic. 

As for coffee they serve up Three Ships out of Virginia Beach. That morning, I chose an espresso of their Espresso Blend and a drip of their Steady Hand. The espresso, pulled short/medium with light brown crema, smacked of chocolate milk, cherry cheesecake, blackberry jam, almond, grapes and molasses, proving sweet and bright. The drip coffee also proved delightful, with sweet notes of root beer, walnut, black cherry, vanilla, green tea and honey. 

After some quality time sipping the drinks, we had to head to the next stop on the agenda. But if you happen to be in the area or passing through, definitely give Ground Coffee a visit.
