The Breeches Cafe

I am always struck with how much of Pennsylvania I still have yet to visit. I literally try to take a different route each time I traverse the state and still, I find surprises unsought.

One such random find was Allenberry Resort in Boiling Springs, located not far from Carlisle. A gorgeous estate with one mighty fine fishing stream, I was drawn to visit because they boast a coffee shop slinging Little Amps Coffee. The Breeches Cafe resides in the main lobby, with a mountain lodge feel inside the cafe that blends nicely with the rest of the overall decor.

As for coffee that afternoon, I went with the You've Got a Friend blend for espresso and Dark Star for drip. The espresso, pulled to a medium volume with brown crema, smacked of mulberry, cream, strawberry and butter, proving sweet and nuanced. The drip also made for a solid cup, with notes of cream, cocoa, biscuit, pear and cascara in a medium body.

While I would have loved to book a cabin to stay the night, I sadly had only time to take a quick walk around the grounds before heading out. If you happen to be near Boiling Springs, definitely make a stop or a stay at the Allenberry Resort so to visit The Breeches Cafe.
