The Cracked Pot Coffee Shop

A giant stand-alone coffee shop with plenty of parking is not a common sight, but occasionally one appears on the horizon. The latest one I found in my travels was a shop called The Crack Pot, a cafe in an entire house focusing on providing work for kids who age out of the foster system.

Arriving one Friday evening for open mic, I found the place full of patrons and buzzing. While it was a little cold for their back patio, the interior had a variety of space to occupy, all decorated with a pleasing manner and full of plenty of seating.

As for coffee, they were serving Passenger that night, though they said they also use their other brand Necessary. For my espresso I ordered Stowaway and for the drip I got Keystone. The espresso, pulled long with light brown crema, smacked of caramel, black cherry, croissant, blueberry, spinach and cream, proving overall smooth and creamy. The drip also did the trick, with notes of molasses, whole milk, pear, rye, fig and some bib lettuce in a medium body.

While I didn't get to stick around too long, I would definitely relish having such a gem in my back yard. If you happen to be near Mechanicsburg or you're in the area, definitely stop by and try out The Cracked Pot.
