Headquarters

Nashville has definitely become a city known for its great coffee options. As many shops decide on their look, most bank on a modern or minimalist decor, but a few go for vintage. One spot that nails the feel of an old saloon is a cozy shop on the west side of Nashville called Headquarters.

Located on Charlotte Pike in between an antique store and a salon, Headquarters offers a 19th century aesthetic that brings the trappings of the wild west without fear of poisoned water holes. The inside offers various seating amidst dark walls, antique decor and a long bar running half the space.

As for the coffee, they serve up local roaster OSA Coffee. After some brief deliberation, I settled upon an espresso of the B4 blend and a single origin Brazil via drip. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of cocoa nibs, cream, orange, bourbon, vanilla cake and a little cilantro, proving sweet and smooth. The drip coffee also made for an excellent brew, with notes of honey, almond, pear, molasses, kiwi and romaine.

Sadly, my time was all too short, as I had to head out shortly after sampling my beverages, but the next time I am in town I shall look to return. If you live in the area or are passing through, definitely stop at Headquarters for quality beverages.
