Never really having the chance to explore North Carolina outside the Triangle, I was excited to check off some other cities. One sunny afternoon, I had the opportunity to stop in Greenville and make a long-overdue coffee stop at Blackbeard Coffee Roasters.
Situated in a brownstone retail space with large front windows, I found Blackbeard perfectly situated amidst the hustle and bustle of the Uptown District. Inside, there exists a cozy yet roomy space, with beautiful decor and a decent amount of seating.
As for the coffee I had that day, I chose an espresso of their Espresso blend and a drip coffee of their House blend. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cream, lime, spinach, Italian bread and black tea, proving sweet and balanced. The drip coffee also produced fireworks, with notes of nougat, vanilla ice cream, molasses, sugar cookie, apple, dates and arugula in a medium body.
After polishing off my beverages, I had to head back on the road, but now I have a place to return to when I next return to Greenville. If you happen to be near by or passing through, definitely stop by Blackbeard Coffee Roasters.
