Lake Life Cafe

After traversing most of Upstate New York during my years as a resident, I thought I had seen all the lakes but it turns out I missed a great one. Situated all the way by Erie is Chautauqua Lake, a moderately-sized body of water with an assortment of towns dotting its shores. Happening upon the lake on my way east from Ohio, I quickly pulled off the highway to check out Bemus Point and stumbled on a promising coffee shop called Lake Life Cafe.

Existing a in spacious yet cozy blue cabin on Main St, Lake Life sits on a bustling avenue of many spiffy shops. Inside, the cafe is well-adorned, with tall ceilings, lots of light and plenty of different types of seating.

As for coffee, they served up One Line Coffee out of Columbus, with my espresso being the Method blend and my drip, a single origin from Rwanda. The espresso, pulled long with light brown crema, smacked of cocoa, cream, cherry, cascara, strawberry, croissant and a little cashew, proving sweet and bright. The drip proved similarly vibrant, with notes of strawberry shortcake, Nutella, cotton candy grapes, caramel, amaretto and a little bib lettuce in a light body.

Needless to say, I really wish I had found this lake sooner. If you happen to be in western New York, definitely head for Bemus Point and a visit to Lake Life Cafe.
