Faire Cafe

Subject: Faire Cafe
Location: Wilmington, DE
Rating: 6+ [see key]

Wilmington is an odd area. For a city that seems to have a lot of different types of neighborhoods, the land has a quite a decent amount of good coffee relative to its size.

My latest Delaware coffee adventure brought me to the doors of an unassuming shop called Faire Cafe. I say unassuming of course because the store front, while polished and pleasing in its edifice, does not properly foreshadow the illustrious setting of the interior. The cafe has an upscale aesthetic that could not have been cheap to achieve and it almost made me nervous that I was not going to be able to afford the coffee.

Fortunately the coffee was affordable and varied in its offerings, peddling coffees from roasters such as Rival Bros, Vibrant and Dueling Rabbits. That morning, I ordered an espresso of Whistle & Cuss from RB as well as a pour over of a single origin Australian from DR. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, vanilla, skim milk, corn bread, black tea and a little lavender, proving sweet and toothsome. The drip coffee also detonated fireworks, with bright flavors of cream, fig jam, brioche, red grapes, bib lettuce and strawberry.

After drinking my coffee, I also got one of their sandwiches (which was amazing) and then vanished into the afternoon sun. If you are in the area of Wilmington, give Faire Cafe a go.
