When I visit distant cities that are home to good friends, it is a favorite tradition of mine to meet at a coffeehouse to catch up. Not only does this give me opportunity to reconnect with an old pal over good coffee, but it gives me a rare glimpse into regular life in said metropolis.

Last year I had the opportunity to visit Spokane and was able to connect with a college chum at a shop called Revel 77. Located in a shopping center near some stunning views of the area, Revel 77 offers a beautiful interior full of bright colors, natural light and plenty of seating for patrons.

As for coffee, the offer a variety of roasters including Doma, Camber and Black Coffee. After a little deliberation, I went with an espresso of a single origin of an Ethiopian from Camber and a drip of Doma's Carmela's. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of toasted pecan, lemon seltzer, spinach and rock candy, proving bright and hearty. The drip coffee also made for good cup, with notes of passion fruit, apple, nougat, malt and pie crust in a medium body.

After enjoying the remainder of my coffee with my friend, sadly I had to be off for more driving, but Revel 77 proved a great oasis to reconnect over great coffee. If you happen to be nearby or passing through, definitely give Revel 77 a stop.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
