Whenever I peak in, Cleveland's coffee landscape seems to be improving quite nicely. Whether LeBron is the one to thank or it's just a mix of local talent meeting a growing need for excellent beverages, the city provides new caffeinated delight every time I visit.

The most recent pleasant surprise to add to my list was stumbling upon Vintage Tea and Coffee. Located in the urban jungle of Cleveland's downtown, Vintage hangs their giant banner over their cozy cafe on East 12th Street. Inside the shop is a pleasant blend of light wood, chalkboard-like accents and gorgeous custom furniture.

While the tea menu looked exquisite, my heart was set on the coffee. Purveying several coffee roasters like Slate, Duck-Rabbit and Printer's Row, their featured roaster that day was local compatriot Rising Star. Ordering an espresso of an Ethiopian and a pourover of a Honduran coffee, I sat and sipped. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, paraded notes of bittersweet cocoa, ginger, romaine lettuce and lime seltzer proving delicious and bright. With similarly excellent flavors, the pourover smacked of fig, miso, apple, croissant, Twix and pound cake; a smooth and sultry brew.

All around, I was very pleased with my trip to Vintage. If you happen to be in town for work or pleasure, definitely stop in here for a great cup of tea or coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
