Rowan Coffee

Subject: Rowan Coffee
Location visited: Asheville, NC
Rating: 6+ [see key]

Living in South Jersey, the name Rowan gets thrown around a lot. But oddly enough, it is not in NJ but all the way south in North Carolina that I found a coffee shop doing great things with the Rowan name.

Rowan Coffee sits in a two-story brick structure in the bustle of Asheville. Inside the cafe has plenty of seating amidst a well-lit, pleasant interior.

As for coffee, they roast their own and also serve Tandem. The day of my visit, I had an espresso and drip coffee of a single origin Ecuador. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema served in a small chalice, smacked of blood orange soda, chocolate, brioche, cherry, caramel and bib lettuce, proving sweet and bright. The drip coffee also made for a similarly fantastic infusion, with notes of caramel, pear, cold whole milk, corn muffin, pomegranate and forellenschluss lettuce.

After enjoying my espresso, I had to finish my coffee on the go as I had a long trip ahead, but to say I enjoyed my drinks would be an understatement. Whether you're in NJ looking for a road trip or you exist down near Asheville, head over to Rowan Coffee.
