I have driven to Longwood Gardens frequently in my many years living near the giant horticultural display but in all that time, I managed to overlook Unionville nearby. A small bucolic town, it hit my radar with the discovery of a coffee shop located in an old farm house called Farm and Co.
Arriving one sunny morning, I parked in their gravel lot and found my way through the patio to an entrance. The bottom floor chiefly has a cute market and coffee bar, whereas the second floor has a variety of rooms with various types of seating.
As for my coffee that day, they served up Elixr and I had an espresso of their Bee Keeper blend and a drip of the Weekender. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate nibs, vanilla milkshake, blackberry, almond and a little arugula, proving sweet and potent. The drip, while a little dark, proved overall tasty with notes of pretzel, dark chocolate, walnut, apple and corn.
After relaxing with my beverages for a bit, I had to be off, glad to discovered a gem in an area I frequent. If you happen to be in the area of Unionville, definitely make a stop at Farm and Co.
