Few cities allure me more than Victoria, and one of the reasons is the variety of coffee shops the area boasts. One that is truly tucked away down an alley is aptly named Hide + Seek Coffee. With two locations, both with amazing patios for nice weather, I was in the neighborhood of their Fairfield Road location one beautiful summer day and was able to stop in.

Once I found some easy street parking, I headed down the alley and through the packed patio to the cozy cafe. Mostly consisting of standing room, the shop is beautifully arrayed with crisp colors amidst coffee from various roasters shelved alongside recommended coffee gear.

As for my coffee that day, all from Caffe Fantastico, I had an espresso of Ready or Not and a drip of their Hide and Seek blend. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, lemon soda, tangerine popsicle, cream, blood orange and a bit of bib lettuce, proving vivacious and sweet. The filtered infusion also made of a fantastic cup, with bright notes of strawberry, Asian pear, caramel, caramel and carrot. 

While I wanted to truly stay and bask in the lovely atmosphere of the cafe, I sadly had to be on the road and had to settle for the time allotted to drink my beverages. If you happen to be in Victoria, definitely give a Hide + Seek location a visit.
