About 10 or so years ago, it always shocked me how much the Orlando area lacked great coffee. I then chalked it up to high real estate prices or people not wanting hot beverages, but despite whatever the hurdles, good coffee is far more plentiful now amidst the area strip malls. One particular contributor to the coffee scene is the many locations of one particular coffee enterprise called Foxtail Coffee.
Scattered all over the Orlando area, Foxtail is a local (and expanding) coffee roaster with some of the prettiest cafes. While on the way to the airport on my most recent visit, I stopped off at their Hunter's Creek location for a quick cup of coffee. The exterior holds the upscale strip mall vibes but the interior boasts a well-arrayed cafe, with wood plank walls, tile ceilings and an overall aesthetic.
As for coffee, I went with an espresso of a single origin Honduras and a drip coffee of their Farmhouse blend. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of sweetened cocoa, vanilla cake, mango and a waffle with syrup and cream, proving delectable and nuanced. The drip coffee also was worthy of laud, with sultry notes of caramel, baked apple, croissant, plum, rye bread and dark chocolate.
While my stay was short, my interest in a future visit to a different location was definitely piqued. If you're in the area of a Florida or Georgia location, definitely check out Foxtail.
