Many trips have I made to the mountains of New York, and every time I try to find a new coffeehouse. So far the vastness of the state has made that goal fairly obtainable, and on my last trip I was blessed to visit the lovely town of Ballston Spa to check out the beautiful town and visit a place called Nomad Coffee & Crepes.

Operating as the cafe arm of Knockabout Coffee, Nomad has all the trimmings of a fun local hangout. Situated in what seems like an old tavern, the space is cozy and full of character, complete with a jukebox that plays songs (for free!) while patrons dine at the bar or one of the front tables.

As for coffee the day of my visit, I had an espresso of a single origin Ethiopian and a pour over of an El Salvador. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cherry, hibiscus, orange blossom, rocket and seltzer, proving sweet and bright. The pour over also made for a delicious infusion, with sweet notes of peach, cherry tomato, cream, corn, sourdough bread and some spring mix in a medium body.

While I was happy to hang for a little bit, the road beckoned and I had to depart after finishing up my drinks. Thus if you seek a great cup of coffee and/or crepes in the area of Ballston Spa, definitely head over to Nomad Coffee & Crepes.
