The first time I went through Buffalo, it was cold, dreary and I could not find a good cup of coffee. The last time I was in Buffalo, it was sunny, mild and I found numerous coffee stops. One of my favorites as of late is a place called Public Espresso.
Visiting their downtown location inside the Lafayette on a sunny weekend morning, I found the cafe vibrant and voluminous, complete with a gigantic bar and an overall beautiful aesthetic. Sunlight streamed in from the many windows, dancing across the pillars and high ceilings, giving the shop a pleasant, open feel.
As for my coffee, I ordered an espresso (I failed to note the coffee name) and a cup of their Revolution Blend via drip. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, smoky birch beer, apple and a little grape, proving sweet and delicious. The drip coffee also produced fireworks with bright notes of raspberry, blueberry, hibiscus, vanilla ice cream, beef broth and malt in a medium body.
After polishing off my drinks, I chased them with a few of their delicious donuts, culminating a most pleasant Public Espresso experience. Whether you visit the downtown cafe or one of their other spots, make sure to check out Public Espresso the next time you're in Buffalo.
These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
