Multifaceted coffee operations definitely jump out to me most vividly. There are a host of things that go well with coffee, yet many times coffee shops seem to follow the same template.

One shop that really stood out recently was in Whitefish, Montana. I had been looking for places to stop and was surprised to find a snazzy coffee bar tucked inside a women's and childrens' boutique. Naturally intrigued, I walked over to see this unique outfit in action.

The Bourdoir Bar is located on the right when you walk in Le Marche, full of bright pinks (including the espresso machine) and high-end finishes. The cafe space is cozy but patrons are encouraged to walk around with their drinks as they peruse the wares.

As for the coffee, they use beans from Stumptown. After some brief deliberation, I went with an espresso of Hairbender and a pour over of Holler Mountain. The espresso, pulled short / medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, lemon, vanilla cookie, romaine, and a little raspberry, proving vibrant and succulent. The pour over also proved delicious, with smooth notes of pound cake, Asian pear, champagne, sweet croissant and pecan.

After talking with one of the employees, it sounds like there exist plans to move to a larger facility soon, which if this is the case, means Whitefish will have an even better coffee presence in the future. Whether you are staying in town for some skiing or passing through on your way to Glacier, definitely stop by Le Marche.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
