Storied Coffee

The region around Albany is full of hidden gems. Whether you seek outdoor adventure, city amenities or stuff to do with the family, places in the Capital Region like Schenectady have a plethora of options.

My last visit to this area of Upstate NY may have been brief but it ended up exposing an excellent coffee shop. Located a few blocks from the Mohawk River in Scotia sits Storied Coffee, a local cafe that serves up excellent coffee from roasters like Kru and MadCap.

Inside, the shop is full of bountiful seating and soothing decor, with the coffee counter spanning the middle of the shop. As for my drinks, I ordered an espresso of their house blend from Kru and a pour over of Madcap's Party blend. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cherry, pomegranate, orange cream and corn, proving bright and sweet. The pour over also ignited fireworks, issuing fruity, vibrant notes of lemonade, raspberry, kiwi, pound cake, a little rosemary, cream and cola.

While I also enjoyed other sites that day like the Riverside Maple Farm, Storied Coffee was definitely the highlight. The next time you are near Albany, stop by Scotia for some great coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
