Sometimes fortune comes easy. Albeit such occurrences are rare, but when they do happen, even small things like finding a free onion ring in your sundae feel just like randomly bumping into Elijah Wood for a rare selfie with the wife (mine, not his).
In my travels through Boston, I had one such surprise blessing in finding Kohi Coffee mere feet from my intended destination. Located downtown in a cozy corner lobby outpost, Kohi champions great coffee in a gorgeous shop.
As for coffee, they utilize numerous great roasters such as Little Wolf, Elixr, Broadsheet and Tandem. After conversing with the baristas, I settled upon an espresso of a single origin Ethiopia and a drip of a Peruvian, both from Little Wolf. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, blueberry, tangerine, seltzer, currants and lemongrass, proving bright, sweet and delicious. The drip coffee also made for an excellent infusion, with rich notes of apricot, butter, oats, croissant, apple butter and peanuts in a light/medium body.
All together, I greatly enjoyed my surprise encounter with Kohi and look forward to returning to one of their 3 locations. The next time you're in the area, definitely give them a try!
These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
