Sedona continues to be one of my favorite spots in Arizona. My first visit south into the canyon from Flagstaff still gives me chills when I recall the majestic red rocks and towering pine trees.
Thus it was with great joy that I heard news of a worthwhile coffee stop existing South of the main strip. One beautiful afternoon I made my way to a strip mall off Highway 179 and found Oak Creek Espresso. Also the roasting HQ for Ren Tao Roasting, Oak Creek is a sprawling shop that offers southwest decor in a sunlit space.
As for coffee that day, I settled upon an espresso of their Velvet Lotus and a cup of a Zambian natural from one of their pump pots. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, threw down notes of chocolate, lemon, blackberry, sugar cookie, cream and a little mineral water, proving overall sweet and delicious. The drip coffee also delivered fireworks, with flavors of apple, cherry, cola, raisin, pistachio and almond milk in a medium body.
While I definitely would have liked to stay longer, I had to voyage south for a meeting, and thus with mild reluctance, I bade adieu to this wonderful coffee oasis. If you are heading to or through Sedona definitely make a stop at Oak Creek Espresso for some great coffee.
