Drip N Scoop

I have seen many attempts to bring good coffee to the NJ coast and sadly, only a few enterprises have succeeded. Whether it's an affinity for over-roasted beans, cutting corners, a disregard for training/quality, or any combination of the three, I've seen it all at the Jersey shore. Thus, when a shop does things right, they deserve their praise due.

Last year the town of Ocean City got a gem of a coffeehouse called Drip N Scoop. Located off the boardwalk on 10th and Asbury, Drip N Scoop resides in a large corner shop with a long purple awning and outside tables lining both sides. Inside sprawls a spacious dining area in front of their giant counter full of donuts, ice cream and Counter Culture Coffee

Stepping up to order, I settled on an espresso of the Fast Forward blend and a pourover of La Golondrina, a single origin from Timbio, Colombia. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, doled out notes of chocolate, lemon, vanilla cake, cola and a little organo, proving sweet, slightly bright and delicious. The pourover also delivered a lip-smacking infusion, full of vanilla, cashew, pear, milk, clove and biscotti, making for a light, nutty coffee.

While I am sure most tourists don't plan their vacations around good coffee shops (yet), I know that I'll be keeping an eye out for for affordable rentals in Ocean City. Whether you're in town for the week or a day visit, definitely check out Drip N Scoop.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
