September Surf Cafe

Subject: September Surf Cafe
Location: Montreal, QC
WiFi?: yes
Rating: 6+ [see key]

I never expected to find a surf-centered coffeehouse in Montreal, and yet there exists September Surf Cafe. Named for the peak surf conditions offered on the tail end of summer, September Surf offers excellent coffee along with their affinity for hanging ten.

Located in Little Burgundy, this coffeehouse offers plenty of space and sunlight. Housing also a DIY surfboard workshop called Shaper Studios, the cafe has an extremely relaxed environment coupled with some gorgeous furniture (I adore the bench nook by the window).

For coffee, September Surf utilizes Anchored Coffee of Nova Scotia. The morning of my visit, I ordered an espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, that sweetly yodeled out notes of raspberry, lime, vanilla, cilantro, nougat and zucchini, proving tasty and balanced. I also had a excellent experience with a filtered infusion of their Ethiopia Yukro, a coffee full of elderberry, croissant, raspberry lemonade, caramel corn and a little baby bib lettuce in a light body.

Given Montreal's distance from the coast, September Surf offers a great oasis for Montreal's citizens looking for some great coffee and a quick touch of riding ocean waves. If you're in town, definitely stop by for a great coffee and maybe a surfboard.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
