It seems like every time I visit Orlando, the coffee scene gets better and better. My latest trip south took me to a shop in East Orlando that had quickly accrued a reputation for great coffee, a decently-sized establishment called Vespr.
Having a small window to grab coffee, I wandered in to an intimately lit space with various types of well-arranged seating throughout. Moseying up to the counter, I was pleased to find a variety of coffee, such as Panther Coffee and Counter Culture. I ended up ordering an espresso of Panther's East Coast Espresso and a pourover of an Ethiopian from Counter Culture. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, sang of raspberry, chocolate, miso, lemon drop, corn chip, a little honey torte and cream, making for a rich and bombastic infusion. The pourover also knocked my socks off with some luscious vibrancy, holding notes of blueberry, milk chocolate, croissant, white grape, a little nutmeg, a touch of spinach and sage within a medium body.
As an added bonus, Vespr is also open late (11 PM!), so if you're a nocturnal coffee-phile, you'll have plenty of opportunity to grab an evening beverage. But no matter the time you drink your beans, make your way to Vespr for a fantastic Orlando coffee bar.
