Berdena's

Of all the Arizona towns I have visited, Scottsdale struck me as one of the prettiest and walkable. I was only there for a day here and there, but each time it seemed like a great place to reside. Then on top of those selling points, add great coffee into the equation and now I'm looking at real estate.

One of Scottsdale's alluring coffee options is Berdena's, a rotating multi-roaster shop sporting a large patio and cozy interior. Beautifully outfitted with subway tile, white counters and minimalist elements, the space provides a pleasant environment for their patrons tonsip their beverages.

As for coffee, they serve up roasters as far away as Delaware's Brandywine Coffee Roasters, but the day of my visit they were slinging Presta Coffee out of Tucson. I took a quick look at the menu and soon settled upon an espresso of a single origin El Salvador and a batch brew of a Brazilian coffee. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of lime, mineral water, passion fruit, ginger, zesty tomato, cream and a little kale, proving bright and sultry. The drip coffee also offered a bombastic infusion of sweetness, with notes of honey, sweetened milk, pear, plum, graham cracker and a little white tea.

While I have yet to put an offer on a local shanty, I definitely have my eye on Scottsdale. If you seek a pleasant coffee option in the area, do check out Berdena's.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
