Trenton Coffee House and Records

Having passed through Trenton many times, I have often yearned for a well-placed coffee shop to afford me a cafe worthy of braking. Finally at some point in the past year or so, Trenton Coffee House and Records opened their doors on Cass Street and my longing finally came to an end.

Situated on the first floor of a triangular corner building, Trenton Coffee House and Records has plenty of exterior signage and typically easy street parking. Inside, the cafe is roomy, with a bohemian furniture set-up amidst red walls and diffused sunlight.

As for the coffee offerings, they roast in-house on a drum roaster in the back, serving only one coffee each day. The afternoon of my visit, they were serving an Ethiopian Konga that I sampled via espresso and pourover. The espresso, pulled long into a paper cup, tasted of chocolate, strawberry, a little graham cracker, elderberry and a touch of milk, making for a fairly flavorful pull. The pourover also proved toothsome, with bright notes of strawberry, hefeweizen, shortbread, raspberries, cascara and dandelion green in a light body.

Sadly I was not able to dally for long and soon after polishing off my beverages, I had to hit the road. Nonetheless, the next time I am in Trenton, I shall definitely make a stop for coffee at the charming digs of Trenton Coffee House and Records; naturally I would encourage others to do likewise.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
