Order and Chaos Coffee

Over the years, I have had many conversations with friends and colleagues on how they sate their desire for a good cup of coffee at the office. Some bring a thermos; others have a hot water kettle and pour over set-up right at their desk. But very few are as lucky at the folks at Baltimore's Planit Agency, where a superb in-house coffee bar keeps their employees, as well as the surrounding community, on task with excellent beans.

Located in Federal Hill across the street from the harbor exists Order and Chaos Coffee, a gorgeous cafe carved right into the front of the Planit offices. Inside, glass walls give the otherwise cozy shop a much larger aesthetic, with each inch effectively and colorfully utilized to create a stimulating work environment.

The coffee comes from Passenger Coffee, with my order consisting of an espresso of a Brazil Daterra single origin and an aeropress of Karnataka PB, a coffee from the Chikmagalur region of India. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, tasted of nutty caramel, lime, root beer, pomegranate and a little rye toast, proving decadent and bright. The aeropress also made for an excellent brew, with vibrant notes of cherry, almonds, pear, wheat, tomato and a little arugula.

All together satisfied, I left Order and Chaos Coffee thrilled to add such a coffee gem to my list of excellent cafe experiences, not to mention Planit on the short list of places I wouldn't mind working. If you happen to be in Baltimore for work or play, make time for a pleasant visit to Order and Chaos.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
