Ohmies

Subject: Ohmies Coffee Bar + Yoga Studio
Location: Roselle, NJ
WiFi?: yes
Rating: 6+ [see key]

Coffee pairs well with a lot of things in life. Chocolate, cake, long nature walks, mornings, chocolate cake, late nights and fruit are all things I think go well with a quality cup of coffee. Thus why not exercise? Aside from the risks of vigorous movement with a hot beverage, the coupling makes sense, especially since many people have come to accept black coffee as a delicious, healthy drink. Thus when I found a coffee bar and yoga studio in my travels through Roselle, I was surprised that I had not found such a place sooner.

Ohmies sits in an inconspicuous, single-floor brick building on Wood Avenue. Inside, the space is quite vibrant, having a beautiful array of colorful wall art, large plants and gorgeous furniture.

As for the coffee, they use NYC's Devocion, a roaster sourcing exclusively Colombian coffee. On the afternoon of my visit, I ordered an espresso of their Toro blend and a pourover of a single origin dubbed Citrus, a coffee that hails from a farm called La Selva (or “The Jungle”) in Cundinamarca. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, exploded with notes of bright strawberry, chocolate, cherry punch, wheat cracker, fried corn and a little lime zest. The pourover also made for a bright, brilliant coffee full of blueberry, tangerine, dulce de leche, almond, a little hibiscus and cream, proving to be one of the best Colombian coffees I have ever had.

While I did not hang around for a trapeze class, I would return just for the coffee. Thus, if yoga is your thing, this place could be a veritable wonderland for you if you live near Roselle. In any matter, give Ohmies a try the next time you happen to be nearby.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!

A story: there was an online music collaboration called Ohm Studio. Thousands of musicians from around the world would work together to make awesome songs. We referred to ourselves as Ohmies. Ohm Studio no longer exists and many of the Ohmies moved to Bandlab. Just thought you might find this interesting. Good luck with your shop. Let us know if you need a jingle!!
