A lot of folks forget about the many beautiful towns dotting Pennsylvania. From Punxsutawney to Bethlehem, there exists plenty of hidden gems clustered all across the state, little pockets of sunshine I try to visit when I travel the Keystone State. Until recently, one city that had long eluded me was Williamsport, home of the Little League World Series and Lycoming College. But some months ago I set out on a trip to the region, booking a room at the historic Genetti Hotel (which was a superbly pleasant stay at a great rate) and staying within easy walking distance of another draw to Williamsport: Alabaster Coffee Roaster and Tea Co.

Alabaster resides in a spacious corner shop amidst walkable downtown Williamsport. The space boasts some great atmosphere, with beautiful old brick, wood floors and vaulted ceilings flecked with ample lighting. The cafe also offers plenty of seating for patrons sitting in, ranging from raw wood table tops to their long saloon-like bar towards the back.

As for their coffee, I ordered up an espresso of their Sabra blend and a pourover of a Kenyan. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, belted out notes of dark chocolate, cream, black cherry, blood orange, a little meringue and a touch of arugula, proving sweet, balanced and tasty. The pourover also made for a tremendous infusion, with bright notes of strawberry, tangerine, wheat cracker, sugar cookie and a touch of prune in a light/medium body.

After finishing off my beverages, I left Alabaster a chipper man, off to explore some of the pristine wilds in the nearby state parks. Definitely do yourself a favor if you're nearby and head to Alabaster Coffee Roaster and Tea Co. for an excellent cup of coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
