Husband and wife duos make some of the best businesses. True, some couples do best to keep their day jobs apart, but sometimes a business of great worth comes from the combined dreams of two people.

One such entrepreneurial example is Buck 15, a vibrant coffee bar located on the border of the Little Burgundy and Saint-Henri neighborhoods of Montreal. The shop was a long-coming dream of the Rietties who coined the name after coming home from their travels abroad with a $1.15 to their name. The cozy shop boasts a large front window, a beautiful wall mural and a communal polygon table for their patrons.

Regarding coffee, they use De Mello Palheta Coffee Roasters out of Toronto. That gorgeous morning I decided upon an espresso of their Buck15 Blend and a filtered brew of a Brazilian coffee. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of blood orange, chocolate, lime, rye, cream, a little spinach and some pretzel, making for a sweet and full infusion. The filtered Brazilian presented a toothsome, nutty coffee full of cashew, nougat, romaine, whipped cream and nutmeg in medium body.

After dutifully vanquishing my coffee, I felt slight remorse in leaving this Montreal caffeinated oasis. Thus, if you ever wander the streets of Montreal, make sure to check out the amazing Buck 15.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
