2nd Wave Coffee

Driving south through Maryland, there's a always a nugget or two to unearth. One of my last times, I came upon the town of Berlin, a cozy borough with a nice downtown and a promise of good coffee.

That place was a shop called 2nd Wave Coffee. The outside was stark white with some charming windows. Inside, the shop is a cozy mixture of seating and home-like touches that make it a great place to sit and take a respite.

As for coffee, they served nearby Ceremony. The coffee that day was their Mass Appeal blend for both espresso and their drip. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, sugar cookie, blood orange and hibiscus tea, making for a robust and tasty infusion. The drip proved quite different, with smooth notes of vanilla cookie, chocolate, rocket, root beer, apple, melon and bell pepper.

While I found it tempting to stay, I had places to be so I finished my beverages and hit the road. If you happen to be near Berlin, definitely give 2nd Wave a stop for some good coffee.
