Minch Coffee

Everyone loves the idea of interacting with animals, even if only in certain ways. Cat cafes definitely seem like a great idea for the subset of humanity that enjoys hanging out in a closed environment with cats. I always had a hard time reconciling the concept until I visited Minch Coffee and the Orlando Cat Cafe

As symbiotic businesses, these two operations sit side-by-side in a slightly older shopping center of Clermont, Florida. Minch Coffee seems to handle all the typical coffee shop stuff, with a beautiful shop full of eye-catching furniture and gorgeous lighting, completely free of feline. Next door, the cat cafe recommends having a reservation and it costs a small fee, but your time with the cats is intentional and largely limited to a small amount of people.

As for coffee, they serve up PT's Coffee out of Kansas. On the day of my visit, I had an espresso of Flying Monkey and a drip of their Flatlander. The espresso, pulled small/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, lemon, pound cake, mineral water, brown sugar and apricot, proving sweet and sultry. The drip also made for a delightful infusion, with full notes of malt, cream, pear, buttered fresh bread, molasses and dates.

While I didn't utilize the cat portion, I greatly enjoyed sitting in the cafe and watching the cats through the window. If you happen to be in the area of Orlando and looking for either great coffee or a fun cat-filled experience, check out Minch Coffee and the Orlando Cafe Cafe.
