New construction is often the realm of giant coffee chains, but every now and then a local coffee establishment creates a new space and raises the bar a notch.

One example of this rare phenomena is Arizona's Provision Coffee and their newest location in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. Their one-story charcoal cube resides on 32nd Street, flanked by a spacious parking lot and beautiful landscaping. Provision's structure is actually split effectively between a gorgeous back patio, complete with fireplace, and a voluminous interior for when temperatures soar too high to sit outside.

After one is done drinking in the beautiful design elements, their coffee proves to be an excellent chaser. The morning of my visit, I settled upon an espresso of their Prickly Pear and a cup of a Rwanda single origin via batch brew. The espresso, pulled short with light brown crema, smacked of dark cocoa, vanilla, raspberry, green apple, raisin and plum, proving bright and dynamic. Additionally, the espresso was paired with a complimentary glass of sparkling white peach tea, which pulled out and balanced the bright notes of the espresso and really proved to be an excellent polish to the experience. Lastly, the Rwanda single origin made for an excellent cup of drip coffee, with decadent notes of dulce de leche, apple pie, asian pear, black cherry soda, dandelion greens and a touch of dark chocolate in a light-medium body.

While I could live at this outpost of Provision Coffee, I sadly had to hop on a plane that afternoon and it was with a heavy heart I bid it adieu. If you live in or plan to visit Phoenix, definitely make a stop at Provision Coffee's Arcadia location, as it really redefines the coffeehouse experience.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
