Persimmon Coffee

Subject: Persimmon Coffee
Location: Philadelphia, PA

Rating: 6+ [see key]

I traverse Northern Liberties much less than I used to, but it's always good to see quality coffee shops when I do get over there. One seasonal day, I had some time to squander so I made over to a shop I had heard much good of, a cafe called Persimmon Coffee.

Located in a cozy shop with large front windows, Persimmon is located right on a hopping stretch of Girard Avenue. Inside, the layout is beautifully simplistic, with a front bar and a well-designed back bench.

As for coffee, they roast their own. I had a single origin Rwanda for both the espresso and drip. The espresso, pulled to a medium volume with brown crema, smacked of nougat, pie crust, hibiscus, butter and lemon pepper, proving sweet and bright. The drip infusion also made for an excellent brew, with toothsome flavors of chocolate milk, nectarine, vanilla cake, hazelnut and soda.

While I only had a brief time to ingest my beverages, it made for a great respite with some quality coffee. If you happen to be in Philly looking for great coffee, head over to Persimmon.
