Everyone has heard of Sleepy Hollow, but not many people traverse the once-sleepy-now-insanely-populated hamlet just over the Tappan Zee bridge (and before you correct me, that will always be the bridge name). Dotted with plenty of cute towns, one particular area stood out to me not for its affinity for pumpkin skulls, but instead for its quality coffee.

First Village Coffee is a shop located in the town of Ossining. The day of my visit, I found parking in a nearby lot and wandered over to the cafe stationed amidst the lovely downtown. The shop had a decent amount of outside seating, with the inside having a cozy and well-utilized space, full of beautiful nuance and excellent decorating.

As for coffee, they serve up roasters such as Onyx and Tandem. After some brief recommendations from the barista, I settled upon an espresso of Tandem's West End and a drip of Onyx's Monarch. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, cream, blueberry, nougat, butter, apple and white toast, proving sweet and sultry. The drip also made for a delicious brew, with notes of chocolate chip cookie, apple juice, milk, fig and some peanuts.

After a brief respite to polish off my drinks, I left their establishment full of mirth and satisfaction. If you happen to be near Ossining or Sleepy Hollow, head over to First Village Coffee for some great coffee.
