The old adage that it's important to live like a tourist in your own town is something I try to hearken unto in my travels. Having passed through Quakerstown many a time for work, it was refreshing to just visit so to check out a board game cafe reputed to serve good coffee.
Known as The Parlour Tabletop and Tome, this cafe rests in a brick building in the center of town. The interior is curious, with multifaceted bookshelves, lots of seating and various little oddities like a balcony hemming the atrium.
As for the coffee they sourced from Mad Catter; I had an espresso of their Nine Lives blend and a drip of Midnight Zombies. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, pineapple cream, pear and vanilla cake, proving sweet and smooth. The drip was a dark roast, with notes of vanilla, scone, soft pretzel, salted caramel, apple pie and corn bread.
Following a few games and some vittles, my time ran out and I had to bid adieu. Whether you live nearby or you happen to be in Quarkertown for the first time, give The Parlour a visit.
