Driving north from Victoria, I found Vancouver Island to be a fascinating part of Canada. The dense forests and unique towns definitely made for a relaxing respite.
Fortunately, a great coffee stop lay en route on my journey north and I found drumroaster in a shopping center of red and tan. The interior of the shop is very spacious, full of a variety of coffee gadgets as well as the traditional coffeehouse trappings.
As for the coffee, I had an espresso of their Gold Label and a drip of a single origin Peru. The espresso, pulled to a medium volume with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, lemon, blackberry torte, rhubarb and dates. The drip coffee also made for a delightful brew, with sultry notes of caramel, apple, wheat, chocolate wafer, cashew and root beer.
Benefiting from a full recharge, I had to bid adieu to this delightful treasure of Cobble Hill, hoping to come back one day. If you ever happen to be traversing Vancouver Island, head over to drumroaster for some great coffee.
