Subject: Mayday Coffee
Driving through the Philadelphia suburbs looking for good coffee is a bit like working a spent diamond mine; there's not much in terms of good coffee but when you find a gem, it's worth it.
Such was the case with Mayday Coffee in West Chester. One sunny afternoon, I found myself on the brick sidewalk leading into their threshold. Inside, the shop is filled with soothing colors, natural light and a ton of different pieces of merchandise.
As for coffee they served up Stumptown, and after some quick banter, I settled on an espresso of Hair bender and a drip coffee of a single origin Ethiopian. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of lemon bar, flaky croissant, chocolate, cream and a touch of fresh spinach, proving sweet and pleasant. The drip coffee also exploded fireworks, with rambunctious notes of strawberry, cantaloupe, shortbread, oak milk, almond syrup and a little apple.
After having my fill, I left the shop quite happy to have found a diamond in West Chester. If you're in the area or you're looking for a detour, head over to Mayday Coffee.
