Mojo Coffee Roasters

Some of my favorite memories have happened on evening coffee dates. Sadly, over the years such opportunities have dwindled for many reasons (kids, quarantine and coffee shops with early hours to name a few), but when I can find a good coffee shop open late, I scribble down eminent plans to visit.

One of my favorite night coffee visits of late was to Mojo Coffee Roasters in NOLA. I had just flown into town with my bride, we had dinner and afterwards, a great desire for a good coffee burned in my loins. Knowing of a shop open late, I drove over to the Freret location of Mojo to find a cafe with a steady stream of night patrons, many hanging outside in the warm, humid evening. Inside, the cafe stood arrayed in orange and black, with hordes of seating and high ceilings throughout.

As for coffee, I settled upon an espresso of their Medianoche and a single origin Guatemalan from their batch brew. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, vanilla cookie, heavy cream, nutmeg, cherry, ginger snap and a little spinach, proving sweet and creamy. The drip coffee also made for a stellar cup, with notes of passion fruit, strawberry, cherry tomato, cascara, a little romaine and some broth in a medium body.

After some quality time with the wife over some good coffee, we made our way to our hotel, quite pleased with our evening coffee rendezvous. If you are in NOLA, regardless of when you drink your coffee, definitely check out one of Mojo's locations for some great coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
