Mammoth Espresso

Subject: Mammoth Espresso

In my humble opinion, the best-case office location is next to a great lunch counter and abutting a coffee shop of quality. Throughout my entire life, this has never been my lot but everytime I stumble upon a good downtown cafe, I often think of how lucky surrounding workers are to be so close.

One city coffeehouse that seems like a lovely work neighbor is Mammoth Espresso. Located in downtown New Orleans, Mammoth stands tall as a delightful coffee oasis amidst the surrounding concrete jungle. Inside the shop is abundant with wood and open in layout; a prime specimen of beauty and function.

As for coffee, they purvey beans from MadCap and after some chit chat with the barista, I decided upon an espresso of a single origin Colombian and a drip infusion of a Kenyan. The espresso, pulled short with brown crema, smacked of cream, kiwi, cherry pie, ginger, cocoa and a little seaweed with graham cracker, proving sweet and bright. The filtered Kenyan also proved excellent, with crisp notes of plum, black cherry soda, vanilla, whipped cream, almond, and root beer.

While I could have hung out all day, I had other matters to attend to so I had to bid Mammoth a sorrowful adieu. But fear not I definitely shall return. If you are ever in New Orleans, whether working or recreating, definitely swing by Mammoth Espresso for great coffee.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
