Growing up, I did not truly appreciate Virginia. To my teenage logic, it was the large state next to DC, home of Busch Gardens Williamsburg and numerous battlefields. But as I grew and the more often I visited, I discovered that Virginia holds a plethora of great stuff to offer.

Take Leesburg for example. Positioned on the northern side of the state northwest of Dulles, this lovely small town is not only poised near plenty of sights but it also lays claim to King Street Coffee. A local coffee shop situated inside a blue house, King Street has a cozy, well-arrayed decor that offers a nice living room aura with cafe amenities.

As for beans, the coffee comes from area roaster Lone Oak located in nearby Winchester. For my coffee the afternoon of my visit, I went with an espresso of their house espresso blend and a batch brew of a single origin Ethiopian. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, threw out notes of chocolate, lemon, cream, tangerine and a little nutmeg, proving sweet and bright. The drip coffee also made for an amazing cup, issuing toothsome explosions of blueberry, crisp pear, fresh bread, dulce de leche and some spring greens in a light body.

After hanging out for a spell, I had to take to the roads to get back to a meeting, but overall I was well-pleased with my time at this local Virginia establishment. Whether you happen to be around Leesburg for fun or business, definitely check out King Street in your travels.

These wonderful folks made this visit possible in part. Make sure to check them out!
