Zion Coffee Bar

While great coffee comes in all manner of settings, from dimly-lit basement coffee dens to outdoor espresso patios, one of my favorite places to enjoy coffee is in a shop with tall ceilings, nice furniture and a classy aesthetic. While in Peoria, I found such a setting in a place called Zion Coffee Bar.

Located on the corner of SW Adams and Oak in a two-story brick building, Zion offers plenty of inside and outside seating. The interior also offers a gorgeous place to sip your coffee, with pristine white walls accented with indoor plants and exposed air ducts.

As for my coffee that day, I went with an espresso and a drip of their single origin Brazil. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of passion fruit, cascara, rose, plum and a little spinach, proving sweet and smooth. The drip also made for a delicious infusion, with notes of caramel, shredded wheat, cream, candied apple, fresh fig, vanilla cake and sweet corn in a medium body.

After enjoying my coffee, I had to hit the road, but I hope to revisit the next time I am in town. If you live near Peoria or are passing through, definitely stop by Zion Coffee Bar.
