Bloom and Vine

Location: Glendive, MT

When I first arrived in Montana those many years ago, I only held interest in the western portions of the state. Sure, I drove through the east, but that was simply because I needed to get through it to get somewhere else. It wasn't until years later that I realized how foolish I had been.

Now nearly 15 years later, I got the opportunity to see some of the eastern Montana majesty. One particular town that caught my eye was Glendive, situated a short drive from the North Dakota border. I rolled into town one morning after resting north of Miles City, and to my delight, I happened upon a coffee-slinging establishment called Bloom and Vine.

Located amidst houses, Bloom lives in a giant greenhouse space, with one of the most gorgeous outdoor seating areas I've seen. Inside, the cafe is outfitted with multiple seating areas amidst a still working greenhouse, all of which is decorated beautifully.

As for coffee, I ordered up an espresso of an Oak Roaster espresso blend (Black Sheep?) and a single origin Kenya from Revel Coffee Roasters. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of dark chocolate, croissant, pretzel, cream, black tea, butter and poppy seed, proving deep and sweet. The drip coffee proved a wonderful compliment, with bright fruity notes of peach, clementine, caramel, bib lettuce and buttered scone.

Sadly I could not stay long but after polishing off my drinks, I sadly bid this coffee oasis adieu until the next time I am in Montana's east. If you happen to be anywhere near Glendive, definitely make a detour to Bloom for good coffee in a gorgeous atmosphere.
