Thunder Coffee

Fargo has been on my list of places to visit for some time, so it was quite glorious to finally make a visit, if only for an afternoon. The city has plenty of character, history and, most importantly of all, great coffee.

My first coffee stop was at a place called Thunder Coffee off Sheyenne Street. Housed on the bottom floor of a huge, grey building, Thunder boasts tons of windows with lots of seating options, making for a gorgeous shop with a beautiful aesthetic.

As for coffee, they offer various offerings of their own. After some deliberation, I went with an espresso of Old Friend and a drip coffee of their Party Animal blend. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of dark chocolate, elderberry, pomegranate, hibiscus tea and a little molasses, proving sweet and balanced. The drip coffee also brought the fanfare, with bright notes of blackberry, sugary scone, ground cherry, condensed butter and some bib lettuce, all in a light/medium body.

After finishing my drinks, I had to hit the road, but I definitely hope to one day revisit this lovely cafe. If you are in or driving through Fargo, be sure to stop at Thunder Coffee for some excellent brews.
