If you get your donuts exclusively from a national chain, you have likely wasted many years on mediocre pastries accompanied by unremarkable coffee. But if you like to seek out local places that do wondrous things with donuts and coffee, then you should head on down to Nashville to try out East Park.

East Park Donuts & Coffee sits within a brick storefront in the Historic Edgefield portion of the city. I happened to visit one sunny day, looking for a morning bite to follow my coffee, and found more than enough options to choose from at the shop. Inside, aside from the hordes of creative donut options, there is coffee from various roasters and plenty of seating.

As for my coffee chosen that day, I went with an espresso of the Fast Track blend from Good Folks and a drip coffee of Weirdo from Cirque. The espresso, pulled short/medium with brown crema, smacked of chocolate, lemon, seaweed, tangerine, cream and a little bit of coriander, proving tasty and nuanced. The drip coffee also trumpeted a fanfare of flavor, with sweet notes of clotted cream, nougat, cherry, blackberry, pound cake and a bit of romaine in a medium body.

After demolishing my coffee and excellent donut, I left quite satisfied with my East Park experience. The only part that made me sad was that the shop did not exist closer to New Jersey. If you happen to be in the area of Nashville, definitely make a stop at East Park Donuts & Coffee.
